2008 Hunterdon Drug Awareness 13th Annual Golf Classic
The Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program's 13th Annual Golf Classic "Drive to be Drug Free" took place at the Copper Hill Country Club Golf
Course, on May 19th, 2008. We had a mixed day of weather as you may be able to tell by the pictures (going from sunny to rain towards the end).
There were a total of 72 golfers, which is exactly the same as we had last year. This was a nice acheivement as there has been a steady increase in the
number of golf events each year. We at HDAP appreciate the continued support of our golfers as this event helped raise money that goes to supporting treatment
services for those clients who otherwise could not afford receing substance abuse treatment. We had some very competative golfing going on during the day, the luncheon
food was excellent, and again there were some great prizes given out this year, for example, golf foursomes, restaurant gift certificates,
catering gift certificates, golf bags, a set of golf clubs, and much more.
The Board of Directors and Staff at Hunterdon Drug Awareness would like to take this time
to thank our golfers, all of our corporate and personal sponsors of this event, and our community members who made donations.
It is with your support that we can continue the high quality drug and alcohol counseling and
prevention programs to those Hunterdon County residents who could not otherwise afford to
receive these services.

Golf Tournament Winners
This year we decided to do a modified scramble which changed the type of winners we had. In the past we had 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for foursomes,
but this year we had Gross (score) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for individuals, and Net (score) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. We still have the longest drive for
men and women, and closest to the pin winners. The 'most honest' award this year went to an individual instead of foursome. The recipients of each are as follows:
- Gross 1st Place Winner - Ralph Branchi
- Gross 2nd Place Winner - George Neelen
- Gross 3rd Place Winner - Doug Peters
- Net 1st Place Winner - Dave Boerger
- Net 2nd Place Winner - Tim Stevens
- Net 3rd Place Winner - Dan Card
- Most Honest Player - Natasha Grant
- Longest Drive: Men - Dave Boerger
- Longest Drive: Women - Kristin Delarato
- Closest to the Pin - Ken Harding
(10'7" from the hole on a hole in one shot, very impressive and probably the closest to a hole in one that the HDAP
tournament has gotten in years.)
Because we utilized the modified scramble format, the school teams (Delaware Valley High School and South Hunterdon High School) did not have the
sweeping grip on top prizes as they had in the past (for example, Delaware Valley High School took first place team prize from 2005 - 2007 with our
regular scramble format). While we at HDAP are proud of the school's accomplishment, I don't think there were many tears shed for this dynasty's
departure from the placement tables.

Most Honest Player
As stated above, the modified scramble also took the team prize away from what used to be the most honest foursome, and switched it over to a solo accomplishment of the
most honest golfer. This special spotlight was awarded to Natasha Grant from Turner Construction Company. She took it all in stride and goodwill as she humbly accepted her gift of golf lessons with
a golf pro. :)
