2012 17th Annual Golf Classic
Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program's (HDAP) 17th Annual Golf Classic "Drive to be Drug Free" took place at Oak Hill Golf Club,
on May 7th. Weather was not supposed to be an issue this year, as The Weather Channel was calling all week for optimal weather conditions. However, weather conditions were wet and a tad on the chilly side, with the
temperature around 68 and drizzle and/or light rain throughout most of the event. That did not deter this year's golf classic participants!
There were a total of 46 golfers, which is three less than we had last year. Given the economy and the fact that there are many local organizations cancelling their golf events in the past few years, we are
extremely pleased that we were able to continue this fundraiser, and thankful for the continued fundraising assistance our golfing supporters provide us. As always, this event raises money that goes to supporting treatment
services for those clients who otherwise could not afford receiving alcohol and/or other substance abuse treatment. We had some very competative golfing, the luncheon and dinner
food was great as usual, and again there were great prizes. Prizes included golf foursomes, restaurant gift certificates, golf bags, 2 wills and much more.
The Board of Directors and Staff at HDAP would like to thank our golfers, corporate and personal sponsors, community members and HDAP staff who made donations.
It is with your support that we can continue the high quality drug and alcohol counseling and
prevention programs to those Hunterdon County residents who could not otherwise afford to
receive these services. During these tough economic times it is easy to pass on fundraising requests, and we are grateful for the continued generosity shown by
our supporters and by the community.

Golf Classic Winners
We used a scramble format, with winners in flights (first, second and
third). The first flight team scored 66. The 2nd flight team scored 73, and
the third flight team scored 78. The recipients of each flight are:
- First Flight - Ken Harding, Bill Palleria, Carl Nosenzo, and Joe Salema (Fiddler's Elbow Country Club Foursome and Lunch)
- Second Flight - Jim Devito, Pete Cangelosi, Mike Ruth, and Lou Livoti (Stanton Ridge Country Club Foursome)
- Third Flight - Mike Griffin, John Van Blacom, Lyle Garcia, and Peter Tarricone (Oak Hill Golf Club Foursome)
- Most Honest Foursome - Abid Khaleel, Shaun Finn, Fred Wesolowski, and Glenn Duncan (3 golf balls each, and a lesson with golf pro Michael Knight)
- Closest to the Pin - Mike Casey on holes 5 and 15, Ed Altieri on hole 3, and Rich Harris on hole 11 ($25 Oak Hill Golf Club Gift Certificate per Hole)
- Longest Drive Male - Ed Altieri ($50 Oak Hill Golf Club Gift Certificate)
- Longest Drive: Female - Carol Weber ($50 Oak Hill Golf Club Gift Certificate)
Nobody got within 8 feet of the hole to win the pot of gold, thus all the money collected ($225) went to HDAP's fundraising efforts. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the pot of gold!

Most Honest Foursome
The regular scramble format brought back the team prize for the most honest category, with this year's team golfing at a not-so-respectable 95.
This special spotlight was awarded to Executive Director Glenn Duncan's foursome that included: Abid Khaleel, Shaun Finn and Fred Wesolowski. In good form, the foursome refused to take responsibility for
their landing in this less than prestigious spot, blaming everything from the weather to the fact that Glenn Duncan made his golfing debut that day (he never drove a ball before this event, but his putting
was reportedly decent due to having 3 children and many games of minature golf under his belt). They each received three golf balls each a golf lesson from golf pro Michael Knight. The foursome were
reportedly spotted handing their lessons to Glenn.

Since this golf outing's purpose is to raise funds to help client's who otherwise could not afford treatment, we would like to take this time to recognize our client graduates who continue their strong recovery efforts and are beginning the process of giving back to the
community. Previous golf fundraiser's have been used to help fund treatment for the graduates of 2012, thus it is a great reminder as to why we are
running this golf classic each year.
Please feel free to see the
coverage of our 7th Annual Client Graduation. This can provide those who golfed at our outing the opportunity to see the end product of the money they have donated to HDAP.
Our client graduates continue
to overcome their addiction, and in the process get back into the workplace, rejoin with their family, and again become more productive members of
our community. This fundraiser helps ensure this access occurs for people regardless of their ability to pay. We again would like to thank all those who
helped in this fundraising effort for HDAP!
