Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program is in network with the following insurance companies: Aetna, Amerihealth, Cigna,
Concern Plus, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Magellan, Medicaid, and United Behavioral Healthcare. We are diligently working to get in network with
other insurance companies, and we do accept all other insurances (we will check to see if your policy allows for out of network benefits).
HDAP will not turn away anybody who has a documented inability to pay for care, as we have a generous sliding scale based on a person's income. We also
receive State, County and Private fundings to help those clients who otherwise could not have afforded treatment.

Counseling and Assessment Services
|
|
Outpatient Treatment Services - Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program provides confidential individual, family and group counseling services.
Clients are screened by the Clinical Director and assigned an individual counselor to meet with and discuss
their concerns. Each client is individually assessed and the treatment team develops an initial treatment
plan in conjunction with the client. Treatment may include individual, family and/or group counseling.
When indicated, a client's treatment plan may also include referral for education, job placement, or a myriad
of other supportive services that are available throughout the county. Treatment plans are reviewed
regularly with clients and revised as needed during the course of treatment.
Current groups offered at Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program include: - Early Recovery Group - a weekly group for those clients
who are in the early stages of their recovery process.
- Early Discovery Group - a weekly group for those clients who could benefit from
Drug/Alcohol Education and are in need of discovering whether or not a drug/alcohol problem exists within themselves, utilizing a Motivational Enhancement Approach.
- Relapse Prevention Group - a weekly group for those clients who need help in identifying relapse triggers and high risk environmental
situations that put them at risk of using again. This group is part of the IOP (see below), but is also open to other clients of HDAP.
- Gender Group
- a weekly group for men and women to have a gender “safe” group environment to be able to address those issues that would be too difficult or inappropriate to bring up in a mixed
group as it impacts on their recovery. This group is part of the IOP (see below), but is also open to other clients of HDAP.
- Intoxicated Drivers Resource Program 16-week group - this is a weekly drug/alcohol
education and early recovery/discovery program specifically for those clients who recieved a DWI and were referred to more
treatment by their county IDRC.
- Adolescent Group - This is a mix of didactic education and group therapy for adolescents who have problems due to drug and/or alcohol usage.
The program consists of at least 10 weeks of group, 5 individual sessions and attendance of at least 5 AA, NA or
Smart Recovery meetings. Members must bring a parent or guardian to at least 2 family groups, which take place on
the last Wednesday of each month. The client must submit negative drug & alcohol screens for at least 10 weeks as well. Clients will be present for lectures and/or groups that include the following topics: the diagnoses of abuse & dependence, denial, the limbic system in the brain, relapse triggers, sex education, soft & hard skills and how to handle money.
- COSA and Jail Groups - We also run a therapeutic prevention group for Children of Substance Abusers (COSA) and we run various treatment groups in the Hunterdon County Jail.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) - IOP offers a more intensive level of
treatment services, providing 9 hours per week of Intensive Outpatient
Substance Abuse Treatment Programming. IOP programming utilizes group, individual and family (individual family
sessions and multifamily groups) counseling to those who need a more intensive level of care than standard
outpatient counseling provides. IOP is a level of service appropriate for those clients who are unable to maintain
recovery efforts in a standard outpatient setting (but whose problems are not so acute as to need inpatient treatment). IOP
is also the appropriate level of care for those clients coming out of short-term or long-term residential programs. Our
Evening IOP occurs 3 nights per week (Monday, Thursday and Friday) from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. for group counseling. Our Daytime IOP which started
on February 13th, 2006 has groups that occur 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The group
structure will be as follows:
- Monday (Day and Evening IOP) - Drug/Alcohol Education Group and Relapse Prevention Group.
- Wednesday (Day IOP), Thursday (Evening IOP) - Gender Group (recovery issues specific to each gender) and Motivational Enhancement Group.
- Friday (Day and Evening IOP) - Family Group Night (Clients will receive group treatment and family members will have a separate group discussing
family related issues) and Multi-family Group (Clients and Family together in a multi-family group therapy modality).
Individual sessions and individual family therapy sessions will be scheduled as deemed clinically necessary, with individual treatment
sessions occurring at least once a month and often times weekly. If you have any questions or would like to make a referral, please
call us at 908-788-1900 or contact our Clinical Director Jass Pelland, LCSW, LCADC at jpelland@hdap.org.
Substance Abuse Evaluations - Individuals may also be referred to Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program in order to receive a substance abuse
evaluation. Evaluations consist of two sessions where drug/alcohol use is assessed using a standardized
assessment tool, clinical interview of the client and significant others, and 2 drug screens. Then, with the
clients written permission, Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program will submit a thorough report to the referral
source at the conclusion of the evaluation. All evaluations will result in a diagnosis and recommendation for
appropriate level of care (if needed).

Prevention and Education Services
|
|
A major goal of the Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program since its inception has been to raise the
awareness of our fellow Hunterdon County residents to the inherent dangers in the misuse and abuse
of all mood altering substances. This education and prevention effort helps to prevent the
ravages of alcoholism and drug addiction in our county.
Our staff has established a network of talented professional and lay persons who work with
us in creating a wide variety of prevention programs, designed to meet the particular needs of
service requestors. Examples of our programming include: programs for middle and high school
students; in-service presentations to faculty and administration at all grade levels; and lecture
and discussion meetings with community and church organizations. Our prevention specialists
provide alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education and programming to Hunterdon County schools
to supplement and enhance the school drug curriculum.

Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center Program
|
|
If you have been convicted of an alcohol or drug-related traffic or boating
offense in New Jersey, you must satisfy the requirements of the Intoxicated
Driving Program (IDP) and of the Intoxicated Driver Center (IDRC). These programs
have two purposes: (1) to make our highways and waterways safer by educating drivers
and boat operators about alcohol, drugs and their relation to motor vehicle and boating
safety, and (2) to identify and treat those who need treatment for an alcohol or drug problem.
Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program serves as the
Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) for Hunterdon
County. We provide a 12 hour program of education, assessment and referral for individuals
convicted of driving while intoxicated.

Early Intervention Services - Adolescent Group
|
|
Our Early Intervention/Treatment Adolescent Group is described above in our group treatment section. Initially this group
consisted of didacted education for adolescents marked as high risk for future drug/alcohol misuse, abuse or dependence.
This group has transformed from pure education prevention to a true mix of prevention and treatment, geared towards adolescents
engaging in high risk substance abuse, and other behavioral problems. The group description is as follows:
The adolescent group consists of didactic education and group therapy for adolescents who have problems due to drug and/or
alcohol usage. The program consists of at least 10 weeks of group, 5 individual sessions and attendance of at
least 5 AA, NA or Smart Recovery meetings. Members must bring a parent or guardian to at least 2 family groups,
which take place on the last Wednesday of each month. The client must submit negative drug & alcohol screens for
at least 10 weeks as well. Clients will be present for lectures and/or groups that include the following topics:
