Frank Greenagel, LSW, LCADC

Title:
Clinician - Part Time
Since:
2005
Experience:
Frank Greenagel was raised in Tewksbury Township. He graduated from Voorhees High School in 1994. Seven years later, he graduated from Rutgers College with a B.A. in history and English. After graduation, he drove to Alaska so that he could see a glacier and eat some fresh salmon. In 2003, he moved to Japan and taught English. In 2004, he finished his 8th and final year in the United States Army and he celebrated by becoming a drug & alcohol counselor. He worked as a case manager at Integrity House, a long-term, therapeutic community in Secaucus. There, he led several groups a week and he enjoyed taking clients to basketball games, on hiking trips, making them stand on line, and requiring them to write essays about "why I will flush the toilet" and "why I should not leave candy wrappers on the ground." In 2005, he began working part-time at HDAP. He constantly asks clients, “What are you doing for fun?” He received his MSW from Rutgers in 2006. He earned his LCADC in 2008, 10 years after he began the process as an undergraduate. He feels most like himself when he is speaking in front of a group.
Theory:
Frank is a Skinnerian Behaviorist. He thinks that alcohol is a brain disease that is reinforced by bad behaviors. He encourages clients to be honest with themselves and to change the way they act.
Hobbies:
When he is not working or in class, Frank likes to play video game football with his friends. He loves the Minnesota Vikings, NY Yankees and NJ Nets (he's been to over 200 baseball games -- he has also been to a couple of World Series and the NBA Finals). An avid traveler, Frank has been to 14 countries, 44 states and 26 baseball stadiums. He has run two marathons (he ran under four hours in Philly ’07). A true Anglophile, he’s played croquet since childhood and he studied Shakespeare in England. By day, he teaches English (and history) at Elizabeth High School. He counts his comic book collection, his lightsaber and the 12,000+ songs on his IPOD among his most cherished possessions.
