Jass Pelland LCSW, LCADC, CJC

Jass Pelland was raised in Warwick, RI. She graduated from Prout Memorial High School in 1973. She returned to school in 1986 and attended Community College of RI where she earned a AA degree in Social Work, Substance Abuse and Mental Health. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. After graduation, she packed up her life in RI and drove to Piscataway, NJ and attended Livingston College where she earned a BA in Social Work and Psychology in 1991 and graduated with high honors. She was admitted to The Graduate School of Social Work at Rutgers University immediately after receiving her BA and completed her graduate work in a year and a half. She earned her MSW with a Specialty in Addictions. Jass earned a LCSW, an ACSW, a LCADC and a CJC. She has 20 years of experience working in the addiction field. Jass has worked in a variety of settings and worked with a variety of populations.
Jass's primary approach to treatment is Cognitive Behavioral and Behavioral, especially in the initial phases of treatment. She thinks that addiction is a biochemical disease that is reenforced by adaptive behaviors that no longer work. She also believes there are many ways to change and if you can't think your way into right action, then you can act your way into right thinking.
When she is not working, Jass likes to play basketball with her friends. She loves the Rutgers Scarlet Knight Women's Basketball team, as well as the WNBA Phoenix Mercury and the Boston Red Sox. Jass loves to camp out, especially in New Hampshire where she can canoe and fish. She also love to go deep sea fishing, especially for fluke.
