Rich Colligan LCADC, CJC

Title:
IDRC Director
Since:
2003
Experience:
Rich graduated from Morristown High School and also attended Morris county College. Rich is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol Drug Counselor. He has experience as a domestic violence counselor and substance abuse relapse prevention counselor. He is also a Certified Criminal Justice Counselor. Rich worked at the Summit Municipal Alliance and as a counselor at Fair Oaks Hospital. He is a Mental Health Association Honoree, and received a Person of special value-Overlook Hospital. Since 2003 he works in private practice and as the Hunterdon County IDRC Director.
Theory:
Abuse and Dependence on a drug is primary, chronic, and often progressive and fatal (as defined by the AMA). Many tools are available to diagnose the illness, as well as to identify the degree of severity. Different levels of care are available to suit individual needs. Denial and minimization are often present on initial evaluation as a way to protect the investment that person has on the chemical. I feel it is vital that family involvement be a mandatory part of treatment, as families suffer as much or more than the chemically dependent person.
Hobbies:
When he isn't working, Rich loves spending time with his wife and is an avid collector of really nice, cool looking cars. We are secretly all jealous of Rich and wonder how he can collect cars working in this field, but he's not saying. :)
