Survivor * Zombie * Walking Dead - RAIN OR SHINE ... OR APOCALYPSE

What's New - June 26, 2014

BIGGER, BETTER, DEADER

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN! - Click here.

BIGGER: We are proud to have included so many families in our event. We will be hosting a craft center for all youth registered in the 5k, walk, or kid’s run. Youth can make crafts, color, and participate in the zombie duck throw. Adults can warm up with the Daryl Dash… free event for registered participants. Participants sprint while marking zombies. This is a timed event with prizes for the fastest times.

BETTER: Pre-Registered participants will be able to pick up their bibs and packets during posted times, a few days before race day. Due to the large number of participants, this will make registration much smoother. We have also contracted with a new timing company, Compuscore, that reliably times the Turkey Trot each year. This year only pre – registered participants may run as Survivors to make sure we have a correct number of flag belts. All day of race registration participants may register as Zombies, Walking Dead, or Kids Run.

DEADER: The zombie costumes and makeup were amazing last year… at least we think they were costumes. This year we have independent judges walking among the dead and choosing their favorite costumes and makeup. Prizes will be awarded just prior to race time. The Walking Dead will also have a critical role this year by holding a single flag that survivors can steal to replenish their supply. Hordes (groups) will receive special benefits based on registration fees.

What is a Zombie Run?

A Zombie Run is a hybrid 5k race with slight obstacles along the way. Like other obstacle races, runners navigate through various obstacles. Unlike other obstacle races, runners try to dodge and escape from zombies roaming the course trying to grab flags from runners' flagbelts, similar to flag football. Zombies are other runners, or event staff/volunteers placed around obstacles. Zombies will not physically touch you other than to grab 1 of the 3 flags from your flagbelt. You can choose to run the race as a zombie or a survivor. Survivors are given a 2.5 minute head start from zombie runners. The object for the survivor is to outlast the zombies and continue to the end of the 5k race with at least one flag left in your flagbelt. Should all 3 flags be removed before your 5k race is completed, you simply complete the race ... as an infected person.

Which Option do I pick?

The options depend on your thoughts about your running capacity and experience with 5k runs.
  • SURVIVOR: Less experienced runners are suggested to pick survivors (NOTE: Survivors get a 2 1/2 minute head start).
  • However, if you are a less experienced runner but the thought of running from zombies causes anxiety, then choose to run as a zombie with no pressure to catch a survivor.
  • ZOMBIE: More experienced runners can also opt to choose either survivor or zombie.
  • WALKING DEAD: Don't feel like running? Choose the 2K walk option and be one of the walking dead!
How Does it Work?

You can sign up as a single runner, or with a team. Choose to be either a suvivor or a zombie, and most of all be prepared to have some fun and enjoy a participatory group experience of running for fun. We also have a professoinal timing component with chronotrack timing for those who want to time their participating in this event.
