What is a Pumpkin Trail run?

A Pumpkin Run is a hybrid 5k/5mile race with family friendly obstacles along the way. Unlike other obstacle races, runners try to dodge and escape from roaming Pumpkin related obstacles while during the course Pumpkin Pickers are trying to grab flags from runners' (Pumpkins) flagbelts, similar to flag football. Pumpkin Pickers are other runners, or event staff/volunteers placed around the obstacles. Pumpkin Pickers will not physically touch you other than to grab 1 of the 3 flags from your flagbelt. You can choose to run the race as a Pumpkin or a Pumpkin Picker. Pumpkins are given a 2.5 minute head start from Pumpkin Picker runners. The object for the Pumpkin is to outlast the Pumpkin Picker and continue to the end of the 5k race with at least one flag left in your flagbelt. Should all 3 flags be removed before your 5k race is completed, you simply complete the race ... as an infected gourd.

Which Option do I pick?

The options depend on your thoughts about your running capacity and experience with 5k runs. The 5k Trail run is where you chose to be Pumpkin or Pumpkin Picker
  • PUMPKIN: Less experienced runners are suggested to pick pumpkins (NOTE: Pumpkins get a 2 1/2 minute head start).
  • However, if you are a less experienced runner but the thought of running from Pumpkin Picker causes anxiety, then choose to run as a Pumpkin Picker with no pressure to catch a Pumpkin.
  • PUMPKIN PICKER: More experienced runners can also opt to choose to be a Pumpkin Picker, or if you want you can be a Pumpkin.
  • CASUAL WALKING PUMPKIN FARMER: Don't feel like running? Choose the 2K walk option and be one of the walking casual pumpkin farmers!

  • 5 MILE CROSS COUNTRY RUN: This is a separate run (no pumpkins or pumpkin pickers), for the athlete who wants more of a challenge!

How Does it Work?

You can sign up as a single runner, or with a team. Choose to be either a suvivor or a zombie, and most of all be prepared to have some fun and enjoy a participatory group experience of running for fun. We also have a professoinal timing component with the Compuscore timing company for those who want to time their participation in this event.
